GV Group (Gate Ventures)
Tevin founded the company at a young age, the biggest highlight to date has been seeing how the business has grown and evolved from such humble beginnings to a position of £2.5m turnover and 200 employees in just 14 years. In this period we have served over 10m meals and weathered 2 financial crashes to become leaders in our field, no mean feat in an industry which has seen many casualties. Particularly rewarding has been establishing market dominance over our peers who have been in operation for up to three times as long as Gate Ventures. In a short time we have significantly eclipsed the competition, taking over the number one spot from one competitor in particular who had formerly enjoyed market leadership for 20 years. As we have remained entrepreneurial and innovative we have attracted some of the industries most lucrative contracts from much more established competitors, most notably a £1m partnership with Compass Group to serve the likes of Westminster Council and other local authorities. More prominently however, has been the external praise and recognition for the businesses success and my personal achievements that have proved to be amongst the more celebrated highlights. From appearances in the Sunday Times and prominent profiles in the industry press, to two notable award wins at MSDUK 2012 for Supplier of the Year: Innovation and Overall Supplier of the Year. On a personal level, I have been heralded for my business achievements in the JP Morgan Black Power List for two consecutive years. In the 2012 edition I was named a Future Young Leader under 40 and in the 2013 edition I was featured as one of 100 Most Influential Black people in the UK, an accolade that was announced at a Downing Street reception attended by the Prime Minister, David Cameron. In November 2011, Tevin was appointed the Chair of Inspirational You, a charitable organisation that empowers students, future leaders and entrepreneurs. In addition Tevin runs business workshops on behalf of ELBA (East London Business Alliance) and is also a role model/mentor for Urban Synergy (A mentoring and resource pool charity for young people).
