Sonali Pathirana is Managing Editor at Bloomberg’s European headquarters in London. She runs breaking news operation across Europe, the Middle East and Africa where we find and deliver the most actionable news, first, to clients who move billions of dollars across global markets in milliseconds.
She holds a BA in Sociology and an MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University, UK where she was a Commonwealth scholar. She’s a committee member of Princeton University’s international host program and has a personal foundation that supports education for girls in Sri Lanka, where she was raised.
Sonali is proud to champion diversity and inclusion at Bloomberg, not only across the news organisation’s 2,500+ personnel around the world but also with the company’s Pan-Asian Community. Sonali relocated from New York where, while running breaking news for all the Americas, she spent a lot of time to explaining the importance of tea breaks in a cricket match to the uninitiated.
