Jo worked in advertising and media for ten years before going client side and joining Virgin Direct. By 1997 she worked as Marketing Director as the company launched the innovative Virgin One Account whilst juggling three young children and a demanding career.
In 2003 Jo took some time out and set up her own marketing consultancy, then moved to Canada for 3 years where she launched her own greeting card company. Since returning to the UK in 2008 Jo has launched and led Virgin Money Giving, a not-for-profit online fundraising website from Virgin Money, and headed up Virgin Money’s sponsorship of the London Marathon. Today Virgin Money Giving is a major force in UK charitable giving raising hundreds of millions of pounds for over 10,000 UK charities.
Since 2013 Jo has taken on an extended role as Director of Social Enterprise for Virgin Money as she continues to run Virgin Money Giving and the Marathon sponsorship, and also extends Virgin Money’s reach across new social programmes; including Virgin Start Up North East, Make £5 Grow school enterprise programme, Fiver with Young Enterprise and the Virgin Money Community Fund. Jo is also instrumental is setting up the new Virgin Money Foundation and acts as a business mentor for a number of start up businesses.
